The Brittany Cottages

Indulge yourself in the rustic relaxation of the Brittany Cottages on Madeline Island. We're surrounded by the rugged majesty of Lake Superior, and only a short ferry ride off Wisconsin's beautiful, remote and pristine North Coast. Built in 1905, in the style of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks, Brittany looks much the same today as it did then. Come and experience the vacation of an earlier, simpler, quieter time.
You will enjoy complete family privacy in your own "home away from home" at the Brittany Cottages. Each cottage comfortably sleeps four. Brittany and Normandy Cottages are original to the property (circa 1905), and Burgundy Cottage began its life as the Island power and pump station and was converted to a guest cabin in 1947. Brittany was originally the laundry building and included sleeping quarters for the laundress. Normandy was originally the garage and bunkhouse for the chauffeur. Pine Top Lodge is new this year, up above the historically recreated Carriage House.
All guests have the use of the entire grounds. That would include shuffleboard & croquet, beach, dock and a fire ring on the beach for bonfires. Everyone is welcome to relax and enjoy the sights, sounds, and aromas in the formal garden and take a break in the Tea House. The Main House and Deck are off limits.
For all you couch potatoes, and for entertaining kids when it rains, the cottages are equipped with VCR's, and there is satellite TV reception available.

The Normandy Cottage is original to the property, built around 1905 as the garage, complete with lodging for the chauffeur. It served as staff housing until 1997, when it was totally rebuilt. Now heated and insulated and decorated with cheerful northwoods charm, it provides comfortable accommodations. A large deck with many flowering plants was added during the restoration in 1997 and provides guests with a lovely setting for enjoying a cup of coffee or a cocktail in the outdoors. Normandy is set back from the Lake about 300 feet. Comfortable for four. |

| Normandy Cottage has one bedroom with a king-sized
bed, a living room with a hide-a-bed and gas fireplace, one bath, and
large eat-in kitchen.
The kitchen is complete with full sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, coffeepot and toaster. Normandy Cottage rents for $165.00 per night. |

The Brittany Cottage is original to the property, built around 1905,

It was converted to guest lodging in the late forties, and has served in that capacity ever since. Brittany Cottage has two bedrooms, (one king, one double) and a futon in the living room, one bath, a living/dining room with gas fireplace, and a newly expanded and remodeled kitchen. The kitchen is complete with full sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, coffeepot and toaster. |

| A favorite feature of the cottage is the large screened porch, with
swing and its own picnic table and chairs.
Brittany is set back from the Lake about 200 feet, and has limited views of the Lake through the pines. Comfortable for four. Brittany Cottage rents for $185.00 per night. |

The style is northwoods and cheerful. Access is steep, but well worth the effort. Built in 1947, as the estate's pump house and power station. Burgundy has two bedrooms (both kings) and two baths. Living room has all new furniture in past two years, including a full sized futon sleeper. |

Cottage Rental Resort on Madeline Island LaPointe Wisconsin Reservations:
- Minimum stay in the Brittany Cottages is three nights in July and August, two nights all other times.
- A deposit of 50% of your stay is due with your reservation; the balance is due upon check-in.
- Pay for six nights, the seventh night is free.
- Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be made if your cancellation is more than 30 days in advance of your stay. If you cancel with less than 30 days notice, a refund will be made only if the space is rented. A $25 fee will be charged on all cancellations.
- Brittany Cottages no longer accepts pets..
- Children are welcome in the Brittany Cottages.
- Daily housekeeping is NOT provided.
- Clean towels and linens will be provided mid-week during a stay of a week or longer.
- Small boats, canoes, and kayaks are welcome to use our beach and our dock.
- Jet skis are not allowed.
- There are phones in the Cottages for outgoing local and long distance calls.
- Smoking is allowed on the grounds, but not in any building.
- The Cottages have VCR's (Bring your own movies, or rent them in Downtown) as well as Satellite TV.
- All linens and cooking utensils are included.
- Visa, MasterCard, personal checks, and cash are all welcome.
- Inquiries are welcome by email, snail mail, fax, or phone.
- Reservations will only be taken by phone.
